In Review: Stray

I’ve had the privilege of reading some truly accomplished debut collections, and Allison LaSorda’s Stray is at the top of this list. I feel like LaSorda could teach a masterclass on line breaks, and follow it up with tips on how to skewer and cradle at the same time. Her work is so intentional. You can find my full review in Arc here, and if you need me, I’ll be over in my corner taking copious notes.

In Review: We Can't Ever Do This Again

Some poets step onto the scene fully-formed, and I have a suspicion that Amber McMillan is one of these. I reviewed her debut collection We Can't Ever Do This Again for Arc 80, the print copy of which you can pick up from magazine stands now. And if you haven't bumped into McMillan's work yet, I have a feeling you will. She's darned good.

In Review: The Year of Our Beautiful Exile

The-Year-of-Our-Beautiful-Exile

The best thing about reviewing is coming across new favourites, and I have a feeling Monica Kidd will achieve such status for me. I reviewed her latest book The Year of Our Beautiful Exile for Arc, and you can read everything I thought about it here. Also, if you're one of those people who pays close attention to the feel of a book in your hands, this one is a winner. Gaspereau Press makes such beautiful objets d'art.
